ACT Tutoring
I have been tutoring ACT material for over four years. While I have no specific ACT training, I have kept familiar with the test, am very experienced, and have seen incredible results. I teach unique study skills and strategies involved on the ACT, as well as concepts needed to succeed within each subtest. I have worked with a wide variety of students with different goals, helping students get into college with financial aid or even get accepted into Ivy League schools. I will work with each student to create an individualized study guide based on their current knowledge base and reasonable goals.
What does Brenna have to offer?
- I have worked with countless students for the ACT. Unlike many ACT tutors, I also tutor all subjects from pre-K to college courses, constantly making an effort to keep updated on all subject matter.
- Each student is given an individualized approach for their needs, unlike most prep classes. I take the time to learn each students' needs and focus on their areas of weakness, incorporating their points of strength to the studying process.
- Throughout the tutoring sessions, we will build a customized study guide focusing on your student's needs to keep and reference while studying independently.
- My hours are flexible for busy high school students.
- My teaching style is unique and fun, keeping the atmosphere light and engaging.
- All tutoring is one on one.
When should I start?
I suggest starting ACT tutoring as soon as possible. Ideally, a student should begin prepping for the test at least 2-3 months before the test. However, I have worked with students intensely for two weeks prior to a test and seen an increase in scores.
Typically, students meet for 1-2 hour sessions one or two times per week.

What do I need?
I suggest purchasing a prep book to begin. My suggestion is the Princeton Review book, and potentially the ETS book for additional practice tests if needed. If you are unable to purchase a book, there are many books available at most public libraries, which we can use as a guide.
Is there a score guarantee?
While I have seen great increases in scores, I do not offer any score guarantees. Each student is different, and success strongly corresponds with a student's effort in studying and preparing for the test.
On average, students scores increase 2-5 points from working with me. Some of the impressive increases I've seen have been scores of 19 increasing to 24, a score of 26 increasing to 32, a score of 20 increasing to a 28 (over the course of two tests), and score of 28 increasing to a 31.
If you wish to have the best results, purchase a book and schedule prep early - the students who increase dramatically are typically those that are willing to work hard and put forth time and energy.
